Statement from Larry Cohen, Our Revolution Board Chair on Bernie Sanders’s Decision to Drop-Out of the 2020 Race

WASHINGTON – Bernie and Jane have spent nearly every day for the last five years building the progressive movement into a political powerhouse.

We sincerely thank Bernie for running a strong campaign and winning on the issues that matter most to working people. Because of Bernie and the grassroots organizing he inspired, issues like Medicare for All, the Green New Deal and the Fight for $15 are more popular than ever.    

Not only has Bernie won the issues debate, but he’s also inspired a new generation of progressive candidates to run on his platform up and down the ballot and mobilized the grassroots to fight locally to make the Democratic party more open and transparent.     

In these ways, his campaign was a resounding success. Our Revolution is committed – now more than ever – continue this work by building the grassroots power necessary to elect progressive champions, make the Democratic party a more progressive, and fight to advance progressive policies at every level of government. 

Bernie’s campaign was the spark and the fuse has been lit.  Our organizing will not stop because we know that when we organize we win.
