A video of a group of boys being beaten and forced to chant ‘Pakistan Murdabad’ is making the rounds on social media. It is being claimed that people who raised slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ in Ujjain were made to chant ‘Pakistan Murdabad’. A Facebook page called ‘Goga Jaharveer Chandigarh’ posted this video with the same claim. Readers should note that MP police arrested 10 Muslim youths for allegedly raising pro-Pakistan slogans during a Taziya function on August 19. Alt News had published a report on viral videos of the function where ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ chants cannot be heard.

We performed a keyword search and found the original video on Youtube. It was uploaded on April 16, 2017. According to the caption, the Indian army had allegedly beaten up Kashmiri youths and forced them to chant ‘Pakistan Murdabad’.
Another keyword search led us to media reports from 2017. One such article by ScoopWhoop dated April 15, 2017 stated that two videos of Indian army soldiers allegedly thrashing Kashmiri youths had gone viral on social media. Following this, the then chief minister Mehbooba Mufti asked for a detailed inquiry into the incident. This story includes a tweet by Kashmiri journalist Ahmer Khan dated April 15, 2017, in which the footage was shared.

The Indian Express published an article on the incident on April 15, 2017. The report quoted the then defence spokesperson Col. Rajesh Kalia who said that the veracity of the videos was being ascertained and action would be taken against those found guilty of misconduct.
