Committee to Protect Journalists is pleased to invite members of the press to register to cover this year’s awards
New York, October 28, 2022 – The Committee to Protect Journalists is proud to recognize the courage and integrity of five inspirational journalists on November 17, 2022, at the 32nd annual International Press Freedom Awards (IPFA). In a year of grave challenges to press freedom around the world, this year’s awards highlight the indomitable resilience of journalism embodied by the awardees.
CPJ will recognize awardees from Cuba, Iraqi Kurdistan, Ukraine, and Vietnam at this year’s ceremony. This year’s Gwen Ifill Press Freedom awardee will be Galina Timchenko, editor of the independent Russian news site Meduza. Three of this year’s awardees continue their intrepid journalism from exile and one is imprisoned for her reporting. All have withstood immense challenges to bring the public independent reporting amid rampant disinformation and war.
This year’s awards dinner will be chaired by Shari Redstone of Paramount Global and hosted by Kim Godwin of ABC News. CPJ experts and select awardees will be available for interviews. Please email press@cpj.org to arrange interviews or apply for press credentials to cover the event. The event will also be livestreamed.
