This week marks the passage of a century since the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) led a strike of several thousand workers. The IWW (often called the Wobblies) called the May Day 1923 General Strike with a primary demand: the liberation of all political – often called “Class War” – prisoners. As a center of IWW strength, Pacific Northwest lumber and maritime workers led the way as thousands of loggers, sawmill and longshore laborers, and sailors poured off the job. More
