A montage video featuring a voiceover is being widely shared on various social media platforms with users claiming that actor Amitabh Bachchan has finally broken his silence on the ongoing situation in the country, aiming to enlighten the public. In the video, one can hear the following words in Hindi:
“Where is humanity in this country where girls are killed by stoning? Where terrorists are openly supported. Slogans of ‘Zindabad’ are raised for the enemy country. Where religion is considered before the Constitution. A country where even the existence of Lord Ram has been questioned. How successful will that country be in the world? Here, those who followed their religion are in 57 countries today and those who followed brotherhood and humanity are trying to save their existence in their own country. You don’t have to like this video or follow, but if the words have touched your heart, then just share it.”
X (formerly Twitter) user Gulab Tiwari (@GulabTiwariBJP) tweeted the video with the caption “Amitabh ji finally broke his silence and made this video to open our eyes, because it is not too late yet.”

Alt News received several requests on its WhatsApp helpline number to fact-check the video and the claim that the speaker was Amitabh Bachchan.

Listening to the audio, it became apparent that the voice was not of Amitabh Bachchan. The audio is rushed in the sense that the pauses within the sentences are shorter than how they should be. Besides, the voice, which appears robotic, lacks the sonorousness typically associated with the actor’s voice. Additionally, a noteworthy aspect of the voiceover is the final line, which urges viewers to share the video, instead of merely liking or following. It is highly unlikely for Amitabh Bachchan to make such an appeal.
We also used ElevenLabs, where we selected the ‘Text to Speech’ option. We wrote the entire speech in Hindi (the speech that can be heard in the viral video) and pressed the play button. The audio generated was very similar to the voiceover in the viral clip. It featured short pauses, less breathing time, and appeared robotic.
To verify the authenticity of the claim further, we searched for news reports on Amitabh Bachchan making such scathing remarks about the state of the nation, but we could not find any such report. We also looked up his X handle, where he is fairly active, but found no such video or audio clip.
Finally, to confirm the source of the voice further, we checked the video with an AI detection tool, Truemedia.org. The tool detected the voice used in the video as 100% AI-generated.

We tried a few other AI-detection tools, such as, Deepfake-o-meter and Resemble detect. All of them showed a high probability that the audio was not authentic.

Therefore, it is clear that the claims made by social media users that the voice in the viral video is of Amitabh Bachchan are false. The voice is AI-generated in all probability.
[The readers should note that AI detection tools are not always reliable and foolproof. The main reason for that is the ever evolving field of generative artificial intelligence. This article discusses the limitations of the use of such tools in a comprehensive way.]
